Diabetic socks for diabetic patients
Diabetes: Diabetes is considered as a critical health condition under which the body is not able to produce insulin, a hormone that breaks down sugar in the blood. As a result, the level of sugar content in the blood becomes too high. It is a serious problem, which results in numbness; loss of vision, damages nerves and also affects the feet severely. Some times, it becomes a life threatening disease leading to heart attack.
Diabetes also destroys the blood vessels in legs. It also reduces the transfer of blood to the nerves in legs and feet and so the disease is considered as ‘Diabetic Neuropathy'. It can cause numbness and pain in parts of the body.
Symptoms of Neuropathy
- A feeling of pain or burning in your legs.
- No feeling of sensation.
- Muscles decrease in size, which leads problem in walking.
- Skin over the foot may crack or bump developing ulcers.
- In such cases, if the ulcers worsen and get affected, your foot might be amputated.
Diabetic Socks:
Diabetic socks are similar to the ordinary socks but are specially designed for the sensitive feet and diabetics. However diabetic socks cannot cure all the problems, but they can help up to some extent in curing some foot disorders caused by diabetes.
If you are suffering from diabetics, maintaining your foot health is utmost important. High sugar can develop two types of foot problems. Firstly, nerve damage and secondly poor blood flow. In such case, like nerve damage, loss of sensation occurs in your legs and feet. And, it may further lead to infections.
Such sort of diabetes is reactive to socks that have sequential seams and rough materials on the soles of the foot. There are specially designed socks for diabetes that enhance the features of non-binding and minimum constriction around the ankles and legs.
