Charles Jourdan

Biography:
Charles Jourdan, born on 1883, was one of the astounding shoe designers in the designer history. He is well known and famous for his excellent adroitness in designing women’s shoes. Even if the collections are not trendsetting, their classic affluent look brought him to the peak in the high end world of fashion.
With in a short span of time Jourdan became an eminent and much-publicized designer in the fashion Capitals. His collections were top-notch in 1930s and had an aura of brilliant craftsmanship in his sexy sandal designs. His sudden death in 1976 became a setback for the fashion industry. However this maverick designer had made his own place in the history of fashion and in the hearts of many. Even today his works are reflected in the patterns of many shoe designers.

Company: Charles Jourdan opened his first boutique in Paris in 1957. And probably by 1968 his company Charles Jourdan was franchised. His company created an avant-garde image for itself with the help of the surrealist photographer Guy Bourdin for its advertising campaign. He had shoe store in New York too. Even after his death his name remained so popular that his boutiques were opened in major cities across Europe and North America.

Designs For: Charles Jourdan is not much eminent in designing men’s shoes but very prominent in designing women’s shoes. One of his best collections is the stilettos that rocked the haute couture in 1930s.
Popularity: Charles was a maestro in designing erotic and flirtatious shoes for women during early 1920s. He invented the stilettos which made diehard women fans for his extravagant and fabulous collection of shoes. This flamboyant designer was the first to campaign advertisements in the high-end fashion magazines. This new concept added much prevalence to his name and fame.
