Biography:

Anne Klein alias Hannah Golofsky, a reminiscent shoe designer was born on 7th June 1923, in Brooklyn, New York. She studied art at Girls' Commercial High School, New York, and it was during 1937-38 that she completed studying fashion at Traphagen School, New York. Even though she was a gregarious designer in designing all sorts of clothes for women, she tried her hand in crafting down to earth shoe designs. Predominantly she shined bright in designing fabulous shoes and soared to the heights of a legendry shoe designer.

It was 1974 when this high end world of fashion has lost this peerless and gutsy fashion designer. Even though she left this world her trademark Annie Klein Co. remains highly recognizable as a landmark of all sorts of fashion wear. Her enthusiasm and distinctive skills in designing shoes was reflected in her shoe collections in Anne Klein & Co. Anne Klein is highly renowned for designing sophisticated and luxurious clothes in vogue that give a truly American look. Anne Klein, a name very prominent for fashion and passion among many fashion freaks of all ages. A stupendous fashion designer of the haute couture who always tried something innovative and exclusive in her shoe designs.

Company: Anne Klein’s first contribution to the fashion industry with the assistance of her husband Ben Klein was the establishment of Junior Sophisticates in 1948. It was a complete clothing line with innovative and sophisticated clothes for the young women. Later in 1968 she became prominent with her biggest invention of Anne Klein & Company.

In Field Since: She started her designing career in early 1938 by working as a sketcher in Seventh Avenue, New York. And gradually she stepped forward to design extravagant shoes and proved herself as a true fashion designer in all respects.

Designs For: Many famous personalities and celebs are die hard fans of her collections. World famous singer/actress Mary Moore and superstar Janet Jackson love Anne Klein’s shoe collections and often seen paring her shoes collections.

Popularity: Her shoe collections are a blend of ordinary with extra-ordinary completely casting a look that is instantly recognizable. This flamboyant designer wrapped up many awards for her contributions to this haute monde world of fashion. Some of the awards she won were Mademoiselle Merit award in 1954, Coty American Fashion Critics award twice in 1955 and 1969, Neiman-Marcus award twice in 1959 and 1969, Lord and Taylor award in 1964, National Cotton Council award in 1965 etc. Apart from winning these many awards she was honored to be named to Coty Hall of fame and was one among the five designers chosen for Franco-American presentation at Versailles in 1973. Anne Klein was even honored “FASHION WALK OF FAME” in the year 2001.
