How Rain Boots came into use
Necessity is the mother of invention:
Once upon a time, "Rain Boots" were a non-existent word in our lexicon. At that time, people had to grapple hard with the mud and water that accumulated after heavy shower. The feet of the people became wet, as there was no boot to repel water. There were instances when skin diseases affected people. Hence, there was a need to invent such a boot that will repel water and alleviate the sufferings faced by the people.
There may be contradictory statements about the origin of rain boots. But, the credit for using the first rain boot should go to Arthur Wellesley, who happened to be the first duke of Wellington. At that time tall boots were very popular. But, a summon was issued to shoe makers to make some modifications in the style of the boots. They were termed as Wellington Boots. Hiram Hutchinson is accredited with the introduction of first rubber Wellington Boots. These rubber boots wee used by farmers in France. These boots attained huge popularity among the field workers and farmers as they provided ample protection to them and solved their problems of wet and muddy feet and from there, the journey of Rain Boots begun. Even today, Wellington Boots is one of the popular Rain Boots.
