Construction and Lacing Method of Hunting Boots
Construction methods of Hunting Boots:
The method of construction of men’s hunting boot and women’s hunting boot is somewhat same. Usually, two methods are employed in making hunting boots-Goodyear welt construction and cement construction. Have a glance at details pertaining to these methods-
Goodyear welt Construction:
Hunting Boots made of Goodyear Welt construction are marked by toughness and presence of clearly visible stitching. Welt is a ribbon made of leather or rubber. Goodyear Welt construction method involves two steps. In the first step, a welt is stitched to the upper part of the boot, insole and lining. In the second step, the outer part of the boot is stitched to the bottom of the welt. Boots made of Goodyear Welt construction provide superb traction, lateral stability and are easy to repair.
Cement Construction:
This method of construction also involves two steps. In the first step, before the leather is fixed to the bottom of insole, it is enclosed around the "last"(Last is the foot shaped form on which a boot is constructed and that determines the inner shape of the boot). In the second step, the outsole is fixed to the bottom of the insole. Boots manufactured by such method are usually less costly.
Lacing System:
Hook Lacing
One of the fastest lacing systems is hook. The strongest hooks are designed in such a way that they provide the best fitting.
D-Ring Lacing
Some Hunting Boots are provided with D-shaped rings in which the laces pass through easily. It is also very easy to untie the laces. D- shaped rings are used either with eyelets or with hooks so that they provide good lacing speed as well as a tight grip.
Eyelet Lacing
It is one of the strongest lacing system but they require long time to lace and unlace. Laces can be tightened at each pair of eyelets, which gives you perfect fit.
