Models and Materials of Football Shoes
Styles
Football shoes come in three styles or heights
- Low - cut
- Mid - cut
- High Tops
Low cut football shoes are lightweight and enable the player to perform brisk movements in the field. These football shoes are most suitable for players who play in forward position as they need to do a lot of running activities.
Mid-cut football shoes provide extensive support
and enable the players to perform juggling movements in the field. They are most suited for players who need extensive display of skill. Eg. Defensive backs, running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks.
High-Top are synonymous with ankle support and are most suitable for linemen who perform various lateral movements during this game and hence have to bear a lot of pressure on their ankles. The high-top shoes by extending up to the ankle provide them the desired ankle support.
Materials
Leather, synthetic, suede and rubber are the four most commonly used materials in football shoe. Have a short glance at each of them-
Leather
Football shoes made of leather are highly flexible and long lasting. They increase the breathability of the shoe and the comfort of the wearer. But, they are somewhat expensive and are not suited for playing in wet conditions as they readily absorb water
Synthetic
Football shoes made of synthetic material
provide support at forefoot, mid-foot and ankle. They are comparatively inexpensive
than leather but are less durable .Synthetic football shoes are most suited for playing the game on wet conditions or during rain as they can be dried very easily.
Rubber
The outsole of football shoe is usually made of rubber. The major advantage of using rubber is that it provides high degree of traction and makes the shoe suited for use in grassy fields. Rubber made outsoles also prevent slipping on the field.
Suede
The upper part in many Football Shoes is made of suede. Suede made upper part provides warmth and comfort to the wearer. Besides, suede made football shoes are breathable that is they allow easy circulation of air.
