Features of Cross Trainers
1. Multi-Purpose Outsoles
The cross-trainer's outsoles are designed in such a way that it should meet all the demands of aggressive activities / sports. They provide long wearing durability and good traction. The outsole of cross training shoes is abrasion-resistant. Most of the modern shoes use a rubber and gum rubber composite compound.
2. Mid-sole
The mid-sole absorbs shock and is made of foam and EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate). It is (midsole) sandwiched between the outer sole and the foot-bed. If the mid-sole material is soft then it provides you more cushioning at heel and forefoot region. Besides all these the midsole is also responsive for stability and adequate flexibility.
3. Upper
These leather uppers are designed in such a way to provide more ankle support. The cross-trainers made of leather provide you greater stability but is less breathable, when compared to mesh.
You can look for a secure lacing system to allow the feet feel secured during lateral movements. Upper is the primary influence on fit. It also provides you support, position for your foot. The upper has four parts
- Tongue and lacing
- The heel and heel counter
- The mid-foot saddle
- The toe box
4. Last
The last is the inside shape of the cross-trainer. Generally, last is of three-dimensional model. The basic shapes available in last are
- Straight last - ideal for people who are not neutral walkers and people who do not overpronate.
- Curved last - ideal for people with high and rigid arch.
- Semi-curved last - it has a slight curve towards the inside portion of insole, good for people with normal arches.
