Designs of Baseball Shoes

Designs in baseball shoes are available in several forms that include low, mid or high cuts. Comfort and support is preferred to style and fashion in baseball shoes. Baseball cleats are specially designed for enhanced safety, comfort and performance.

Cleats and Spikes in Baseball Shoes

Baseball is played on different surfaces including grass, dirt and artificial turf. These surfaces can often be wet or slippery, so it is necessary for one to have solid footing while playing. Wearing shoes with cleats or spikes attached to the soles help to achieve this result.

Cleats

Baseball cleats are primarily those with studs on the underside of the soles that help you to grip the playing surface. These are usually made of rubber, metal or polyurethane. They are important sources of traction while playing baseball in hard packed dirt: Running, stopping and sliding are controlled thus resulting in a safe play with sufficient ankle support.

Spike

They perform the same function as cleats but grip on the ground is achieved by a different principle. Baseball shoes have spikes to increase grip on dirt and glass. Different stages of baseball match need different shoe models and the need is satisfied by different types of spikes.

During major level of baseball games, the players wear metal spikes and while playing lower level of competition such as tee-ball or beginner baseball, the players wear plastic spikes.
